Third Annual Italian Wine Week, NYC, 1/23-26

Vino 2011 is one of the largest assemblies of wine producers, distributors, media, and marketing personnel in the U.S. this year. It takes place in NYC at the Waldorf-Astoria, and is part of the 3rd Annual Italian Wine Week produced under the auspices
of the Italian Trade Commission.

This year’s program includes 14 seminars
over a three-day period including a number of Press Conferences, industry
luncheons, tastings, three breakfast
programs, and with a Regional Sponsors
Dinner by the regions of Friuli-Venezia-
Giulia, Lombardy, Apulia Tuscany, and Veneto on the 25th, whose wines are being featured throughout the three day event. On the final day, Wednesday, the 26th, a Grand Tasting will take place from 12 noon-to-six p.m. in the Empire Room of the hotel.

Industry representatives wiill discuss the production values of these wines as well as promotional opportunities planned for 2011. According to recent
stats by the ITC and the U.S. Dept.of Commerce, Italy was the leading supplier of wine products to the U.S. with a 30% share of market value for 2010, besting France’s 25% share of market value, an industry first.
In terms of quantity Italy enjoys a 38% market share. Total value through November of 2010 was 1.12 billion dollars, a 10% increase over 2009. The growth of Italian Sparkling Wine imports was a determining factor. To note, Italy has 20 official wine regions including the two islands of Sicily and Sardinia.

Preceeding VINO 2011 and titled SHOP & DINE, Italian Wine Week program has been running a campaign from January 19 and will end on Feb.2.
The official VINO 2011 program kicks off with the MEET & GREET-VINO 2011 DIRECT program which features a host of new wines from Italy this year. The program will lead into ITALMADE.COM in three weeks, the Italmade.com web portal which is designed to introduce the best Italy has to offer from its large inventory of wines best suited for its U.S. audience.
