POLAND, officially the Republic of Poland, is the 9th largest country in Europe ( 120,726 sq.mi.) and the 8th most populous ( 38.5 million ). It’s now an member of NATO ( North Atlantic Treaty Organization, 1999 ) and the EU ( European Union, 2003 ). It is perhaps the most culturally diverse country in the Western Hemisphere. It holds 14 World Heritage sites and has been rated among the top 20 most peaceful countries in the world according to the Global Peace Index.

Partner-Owner, Charlotte Patisserie, (Greenpoint) Brooklyn, N.Y.: Michael was born in Poland but studied his craft of fine pastry making in France. His company specializes in custom-made pastry and unique sandwich boards. Michael has catered some of New York’s major events including the Polish Consulate and the Kauffman Studios in Astoria, Queens. His California Prune tortes dipped in cognac are sublime, not to mention his scrumptious Cloud cake with mascarpone & meringue!
Magdalena Mazurek-Nuovo
Communications Officer, Polish Institute New York: Magda, formerly Communications Dir., Kosciuszko Foundation, New York, leads the creative team at the PCI New York where she provides releases on Poland’s cultural and artistic temperament. She has served on the American Center of Polish Culture and is a graduate of NYU’s Heyman Ctr. for Philanthropy.
