Wines of Spain
NYC, Oct.24
Last evening’s WINES from SPAIN trade event in NYC’s Metropolitan Pavilion was very well attended. More than two hundred wines were displayed and offered to restaurant owners and buyers, institutions, events planners, media, and to the public-at-large. Organized by the SPAIN’s Dept. of Trade in New York, it was, perhaps, the largest event of its kind in the U.S. to date this year. Jeffrey Shaw, Trade Marketing Director, and his team organized the event, celebrating the 19th annual Great Match. Native varietals from SPAIN’s leading DOC’s included Albarino, Carnacha, Godello, Macabeo, Mencia, Monastrell, et. al.
A total of 69 DOC’s in fact, were counted.
There were 39 participating producers along with a selection from the Foods from SPAIN section. And present were a number of name restaurants. These included El Quinto Pino, Tertulia, Solera, Socarrat, Salinas, La Rioja, Casa Mono, Boqueria, Barraca, and Barcelona Wine Bar & Restaurant.
Sponsors included Sovereight, Santander, Expormim, Goya, Fagor, and SPAIN’s cultural arm, Instituto Cervantes. For more info try:
