The Ride
The Ride-NYC’s newest venue to spook NYC tourists along Broadway, Fifth and Fourty-Second Street is a hoot. A deluxe motor coach that seats 49 plus two presenters. A
fun ride in 75 minutes, and departing
from the Marriott Marquis on West 46th and Broadway. The charge is $49 for adults and $35 for children under 13. E-mail: ExperienceTheRide.com for more info.
The phone is: 866-299. 9682
The Ride is virtually a theatre-on-wheels where street-side performers
“open up” for the passengers on bus
who view the action from comfortable stadium-style seats through huge panel windows. Says their CEO Jonathan Danforth-“This completely immersive, completely original experience turns New York into an ever-evolving performance.” I agree.
And strollers are amazed and caught off guard. Intrusive, yes, but it’s a
total experience where dozens of actors give their best. The bus itself is huge, over 13′ high, 48′ long and 8′ wide-the largest that the city and feds will allow. More than 3000 LED lights, with 409 video cameras are housed in a vehicle that shakes, rattles and rolls. And the presenters, theatre trained themselves offer the colorful commentary about the city’s spires, people, and places with lots of Q&A. Most informed gets a prize here.
Why not The Ride.
