MONTECITORIO Running Club’s salute,
Nov.2, was attended by Italian marathon runners from the Emilia Romagna region, media, a host of Italian and American sponsors, dignitaries, and celebrities at Remi’s
Italian restaurant in NYC. The event was designed as a fundraiser for La Cooperativa Sociale II Girasole of Modena, benefiting the student center and art lab for those affected by the recent earthquake in the Emilia Romagna region. The web site for this is:

Noted members of Parliament led by the Hon.Maurizio Lupi along with a delegation from the region participating in this year’s annual NYC Marathon were there. Over 1/2 million dollars have been raised in the last three years from their event.This auspicious organization
has over 80 MPs from the various political parties that make up the Italian matrix. It was founded in 2009. Note that travel expenses are borne out-of-pocket by each member.
The club’s projects which are sports ended, social and charitable, are promoted by the Chamber of Deputies with support from the Italian Track and Field Federation ( Fidal ) and with the Center for Sports Medicine(CONI) The club’s purpose includes educating Italian runners and their counterparts on the health benefits of the sport.
