DANCE GOTHAM
Sunday evening, the 9th at NYU’s
Skirball Center in NYC witnessed a
stellar performance by nine dance troupes performing modern dance like
you’ve never seen. The program was
sponsored by the Gotham Arts Exchange, a non-profit org that has supported and maintained dance arts over the last five seasons in New York. Go to gothamarts.org
The companies included the renowned GARTH FAGAN Dance Company
( Passion Distanced; Woza ), ALISON CHASE ( Star Crossed ), KATE WEARE
( Bright Land ), PARADIGM ( Idyll ),
BRIAN BROOKS MOVING COMPANY
( Motor ), MONICA BILL BARNES
( Mostly Fanfare ), CAROLYN DORFMAN DANCE COMPANY
( Keystone ) and KEIGWIN + COMPANY
( Love Songs ).
The dances were heavily accented towards sensual love and sexual
attraction, erotic and plain, man-to-woman, man-to-man, and woman-to-woman, all beautifully expressed to a most responsive young adult audience.
I found the costumes creative, and
balanced and the music under
appealing and relevant to the numbers
selected. It was an intelligent bearing for all to enjoy.

One final note-the price was right. All tickets started at $10 I found. You can’t beat that!
